Repairing active leaks on a pickle tank using custom pressure patches, composite reinforcement, and a protective lining system designed for hydrochloric acid immersion.
The Problem
Active leaks were discovered on a pickle line tank, creating concerns about product loss and continued deterioration of the affected areas. The leaks required immediate stabilization and a repair solution capable of providing both leak containment and long-term reinforcement.
The Solution
RAK Industrial Services mobilized to the site and fabricated custom “pressure patches” to address the leaking areas. The patches were installed and successfully stopped the active leaks. Following leak stabilization, the repair areas were prepped, reinforced with a multi-layer composite repair system, and coated with a protective lining system to provide additional durability and corrosion resistance. All materials used were rated for immersion in HCL pickle acid.
