Live Injection and Composite Wrap on Stainless Steel T-Section

RAK responded to an active leak on a stainless-steel T-section near a weld in a difficult-to-access area. The team applied a temporary wrap, followed by injection and composite reinforcement, and installed a custom clamp to fully seal the leak. Completed live without shutting down the system, the repair restored integrity and ensured safe, continued operation.

The Problem

A stainless-steel T-section developed a leak near the weld on the top run, creating a challenging and hazardous situation. The leak was active and located in a hard-to-access area, with added complications such as the need for multiple permits. Left unresolved, the leak risked escalating into a larger failure, impacting plant operations and safety.

The Solution

Our crew mobilized under emergency call-out, bringing in specialized equipment including composite wraps, injection kits, and custom clamps. The leak was initially slowed with a temporary wrap, then stabilized using an injection plate and reinforced with additional composite layers. A clamp was custom-built, delivered to the site, and installed. The repair was injected to 1,000 PSI over static pressure, ensuring a complete seal. By combining injection technology with composite reinforcement, the team delivered a safe, durable, and cost-effective solution — all completed live without taking the system offline.
