Underground Utility Pipe Reinforcement and Multi-Leak Repair

RAK responded to multiple active leaks on a 30-inch underground utility water pipe, ultimately identifying and repairing five leaks. The team applied a continuous carbon fiber composite wrap and injection methods to fully seal and reinforce the line. Completed under confined space conditions and emergency response, the repair restored full operating pressure without downtime.

The Problem

A series of active leaks were discovered on a 30” underground utility water pipe, initially believed to require minimal repair. However, five additional leaks were ultimately uncovered, escalating the situation into a significant environmental and operational concern. Confined space entry and emergency support were required to minimize downtime and maintain safety compliance.

The Solution

RAK was called in to address the escalating issue. Crews mobilized quickly and worked extended hours to secure the pipe and contain all five leaks. A continuous carbon fiber composite wrap was installed to reinforce the entire exposed section of pipe. Injection points were added to address residual seepage, and vacuum trucks were coordinated to maintain safe access throughout the repair process. The system was successfully brought back to full operational pressure.
