Multi-Building Coating System with Supply Chain Adaptation

RAK delivered a high-performance coating system across multiple facility buildings with varying substrate conditions, including active leaks and high-traffic areas. Through detailed surface preparation and a multi-layer epoxy and urethane system, the team ensured durability and compliance with strict specifications. Despite material shortages, a suitable alternative was sourced without delaying the project, resulting in a long-term, maintenance-friendly solution completed on schedule.

The Problem

An industrial facility required a protective coating system for multiple buildings with highly sensitive operations. The challenge was that the concrete substrate presented varying conditions, including areas with active leaks, high traffic exposure, and the need to maintain performance within strict specification tolerances. Additionally, a supply chain shortage from the original coating manufacturer created unexpected material limitations, threatening the project schedule. Any delays would have caused operational setbacks and additional costs for the facility.

The Solution

Our team implemented a comprehensive surface preparation and multi-coat epoxy/urethane system tailored to the facility’s needs. Crews ground and profiled the substrate to specification, repaired defects, and ensured clean and dry surfaces before application. Despite supply chain disruptions, our team worked with manufacturers to secure a suitable alternative clear coat without impacting schedule or performance. The system was applied in multiple layers — including base coat, flake-reinforced coat, and a urethane topcoat — ensuring durability, chemical resistance, and compliance with inspection requirements. Independent QA/QC checks confirmed that wet film thicknesses and curing met all standards. The project was completed without delay, protecting the substrate while providing a long-term, maintenance-friendly solution.
