Emergency Composite Repair for 54-Inch Water Main Leak

RAK responded to a worsening leak on a 54-inch water main caused by damage to a previously installed clamp. The team applied a multi-step repair, including wrap, injection, and a multilayer composite reinforcement system, to fully stop the leak. The repair was completed quickly, restoring the line to full operation and preventing further damage without extended disruption.

The Problem

A 54-inch water main experienced a persistent leak near a previously installed pipe saver clamp, which was further exacerbated by weather-related damage. Harsh conditions led to cracks and missing steel at the seam of the clamp, causing the leak to worsen despite initial repair efforts. The situation required urgent action to prevent further damage and operational disruption, as the leak continued to pose a risk to the integrity of the system.

The Solution

RAK’s team responded quickly with a comprehensive, multi-step approach in order to control the leak and stabilize the situation. After applying a wrap and injection, the leak was effectively slowed down. Our team then reinforced the pipe with a multilayer composite wrap, completely stopping the leak. The repair was successful, restoring the system to full functionality and preventing any further issues for the client.
